Advances of SBAS authentication technologies

Abstract Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) provides the corrections and integrity information to users, but as its signal format is opened public Global Navigation (GNSS) spoofing technology becomes more realistic, feasible cheaper. It's foreseeable that there will be risks of threats against SBAS in future. authentication a system-level solution by adding special markers signals so receivers can verify whether are from on-orbit Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites or has been forged tampered with. First, this article introduces existing anti-spoofing methods applied SBAS, especially Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) Timed Efficient Stream Loss-Tolerant Authentication (TESLA) protocols. Then it discusses four possible solutions combination with Interface Control Document (ICD). Two main Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Time Between (TBA) Latency (AL), obtained scenarios compared. By analyzing EGNOS Security Testbed (EAST) test simulation results European Overlay Service (EGNOS) Europe, impact after joining service obtained.
